Need 250 CID ENGINE

Looking for a 250 CID engine that will go into a 1963 Falcon wagon. Any leads on where we might find one?

Sorry but I don't have a 250 for you. I'm just replying to make sure you realize that a 250 is a hard fit into a 63 Falcon. The deck height is taller and you will have hood clearance issues. I would recommend finding a 200. It will fit nicely.

There is a running 200ci on Seattle Craigslist right now. If it has all the upgrades and only 10K miles as claimed, it's probably worth the $500.

Well Kelly, I guess that answers the question I asked on the Welcome page. The extra 50 cubes would be nice, indeed, but I run a pretty decent 200 with headers in my wagon and have never had a problem with it. I loaded it to bear with equipment when I heading to the regional Falcon meet last summer. Pulled all the mountain passes (with terrible carb issues at the time) with little problem.

So you could probably get by with the 200 built right. That CL engine sounds really good if you ask me. And you can't build an engine for $500 these days.

Of course, it's turbocharged and there's no air cleaner sitting way up above the valve cover:

Seriously, it's the air cleaner that's the problem. A low-profile air cleaner or a remote style similar to all the current Toyota/Honda/Mazda etc. could solve that problem:

Yeah, I agree a good 200 would provide all the grunt you'd need to pull a small trailer. I'd be more concerned about the transmission. Be sure to install an auxiliary cooler if you're running an automatic transmission.

There was a guy at the ford picnic in june selling one; Rebuilt with hop up parts, 206-940-8044. With the amount I'm spending on some basic cylinder head work right now, I wish I'd bought it...
