Hi, I just found out about this forum and thought I would join. Both of my Falcons will be heavily modified so as a guy not wanting to step on any toes, I thought I'd ask. Some forums are geared more towards the purist / restoration crowd, and that's cool, it's just not the scene for me. So can I hang out here or shall I move on?

Thanks and y'all stay safe and Have a very Merry Christmas.

This club is great and even accepted me when I started cutting out shock towers. I am sure some said words under their breath, but it is a great team of people who love Falcons and some have expertise that you won't find anywhere else. Larry

I know of only one pure Falcon in the group - and it's a nice one (Don's granddads Falcon), but Falcon's are perfect canvases for all you can imagine to do to them. Although I have to say I got mixed opinions when I wanted to modify the rear flares on my Ranchero. They nearly kicked me out. LOL!

Mine is original bar a pertronix upgrade and a pony autolite 1100 carb.

I can enjoy a stock restoration but I can also look with respect to a nice restomod.
The most important thing I find attractive is that all the work either restoration or modding is done with love and respect to the car.

SO Coop will be a bird of a different color as the saying goes... At a stock ~2400lbs Coop's appeal is her weight as well as her cool Falcon "Curves" but mostly weight. ALL of my current hot rods sport a V8, some with, some without boost.

Coop was initially going to be a trailer for my 65 Futura wagon... Think I'm kidding?7347

When she showed up on the trailer, I couldn't bring myself to cut 'er up.
Now for the purists out there... Coop was a L6 base model 3speed Tudor Sedan that now sports a ton of rust in the quarters/fenders/ floors. trunk, and core support... As well as being completely devoid of any interior, glass, and/or trim bits... she's a rotten shell... for now.
73487349

So an ill conceived idea formed in my 420 friendly brain box... Build an in your face, loud, obnoxious, faster than s#!t, lil street terror that gets 30MPG while pushing a ridiculous ~380Hp and ~380Tq through a 5 speed all while reducing the cars carbon footprint.

Coop will be powered by a 2018/2019 Moostang 2.3 Ecoboost engine mated to a T5Z I have laying about. A limited slip 31 spline 2000 Explorer 8.8 with 3.73s. Wilwood Manual M/C and 4 wheel discs should do the trick. 18" wheels and fat tires on all four corners filling out the flares nicely.

A custom cage will be installed with front and rear support struts, 4 link rear with Coilovers on all corners. A full CPP tubular front suspension will be put into duty as well...

The interior will be very minimalist with Pro-Car racing buckets, carpet, rear seat delete, custom column and quick release wheel. Lokar hand brake and Hurst Shifter. Door panels will be custom aluminum bits.

The body will be heavily modified: All four wheel openings will be flared, some aero added to the rear, fiberglass bumpers, custom billet grille, custom hood, etc. All glass will be tinted black and the rear windows will be solidly mounted. I may do some aero on the front as well... Not really sure. yet.

Other than the color and really bad MS Paint mods this is what I am after... Think BMW 2002-ish

I say - Go For It!

My Ranchero, though nowhere near as modified as yours (will be), is an experimental. Just can't wait until the weather clears enough for me to see how this iteration worked out.

Wow. Very interested to see tutorials on your work. Pictures please of all your work. I myself am interested in several of your planned modifications. Larry

Just bought a 63 2 door hardtop. You can see the details in Tech posts called have to start somewhere. I still am waiting on the car to be delivered from northern Michigan. My intention was to make a gasser out of the car and still leaning that direction. But, the seller is telling me he believes this car is a Sprint. The car is a California car with no rust but someone cut the rear wheel wells up. If I build the gasser, I am thinking of going with a 4 link with coil overs, narrowed 9" and maybe mini-tub it. Looking at a 351/427 engine from Prestige Motorsports.
If the car is indeed a Sprint, I might re-do the rear wheel wells and go with a stock appearing car with 427 engine but keep it all inside the hood.
It sounds like weather in Michigan may keep the transportation guys held up for awhile. I will know more soon I hope. Keep us all included in your posts and pictures. Larry

Not sure why the suspension picture came out sideways. That is the upper control arms dropped an inch, moved rearward 1/2" and bronze bushed spring seats. The brakes are some original V8 hubs and spindles with 12" 90 Supra rotors and Mazda 323 calipers and brackets I made from 1/4" steel plates. That's the biggest that will clear a 15" TorqueThrust wheel. The 4 piston Mazda RX7 aluminum calipers i had when i built that setup for my 64 Fairlane in 1990 cleared the steel wheels but were not even close to fitting with the TorqThrust.

You're idea with Coop looks promising.
If there's not much to start with let it rip I'd say

That 2.3 Turbo fits in there pretty nicely. Very impressive work. Bring the thunder!

Love the led headlights.
Too bad they're not allowed here.

Nice speed of progress as well.

That Ecoboost 4 banger should be quick considering it's in a lighter car than the new 3500lb Mustangs.

Thanks guys... the engine isn't your typical S550 Mustang 2.3EB. We did a bunch of work to her before we dressed her in 2.3EB tin. The block is a 2014 2.0 block with 2.3 stuff. A 2016 2.3 Focus RS (FoRS) head and turbo were also added as well as upgrading the cams, Multi layer headgasket, ARP hardware, balance shaft delete, upgraded oil pump and full remote oil cooling system, etc. With all that and a custom tune she will be closer to 430Whp than the typical mustang 310. More from today... I hate nasty weather, so alot of this was done in the shop where its warm.

Tomorrow is supposed to be better, hopefully we can get the entire front clip on and gaps run. I need to decide on hood pin positioning and get the scoops cut for the heat extractor openings. I already have some additional welding to do on the hood so I might as well get the holes punched and the latches recessed.

Anybody close know a guy that can do CF or fiberglass moulds? I am looking to do some custom stuff and would like to re-pop most of it... Let me know, if y'all have a lead.

Little "R" mod today... Hoping it comes out good enough to replicate in fiberglass and / or Carbon Fiber.762976307631

On TFFN there was also someone building a falcon with just such a front bumper setup.
He actually produced them.
It looked pretty cool.

Nice looking front!

I think I know the project. He and I took different routes, but the end product will be close. I like the look, but the Mustang "R" bumper looks like a park bench grafted to the nose to me... Angles and lines are all wrong for our body style.

Ok.
Isn't it called an Elanor nose? He put lights in the recess in the middle. That looked cool.
Are you going to do the same?

Bit more done... stretching the front fenders tomorrow. Grille is still pretty tweaked and yes, the headlights are just taped in for mock up...

Nice. Really like the rims.
Would not be my first choice, im more of an original setup guy, but in combination with the other mods very cool looking.
