I was having trouble finding the correct rear axle bearing for my original tapered 8" rearend. CarQuest and O'Reilly's part numbers will give you a too-large diameter bearing (probably for a 9"- ask me how I know). The part you need for the tapered axle tubes is NAPA RW207CCRA, and it includes the locking ring. These are the premium SKF bearings, not their cheaper "ProFormer" brand.
The old bearings were made by Fafnir, part number 207KRR8, and based on what I've found throughout my car, are probably the originals. That part number crosses over to the NAPA bearings.
Thought this might help avoid frustration.
