I saw this lighted ash tray listed on e-bay:
5253
The description says: "THIS IS RARE 1963 FORD FALCON LIGHTED ASH TRAY ASSEMBLY. IT APPEARS TO HAVE NEVER BEEN USED. THERE ARE SOME SCRATCHED TO THE PAINT IN THE FRONT BUT THIS IS EASILY SANDED OUT BEFORE YOU PAINT IT TO YOUR INTERIOR COLOR. THIS IS A COMPLETE ASH TRAY ASSEMBLY READY TO INSTALL."
My questions are:
Are lighted ash trays really rare?
Were they an option of did they come with all Futuras?
I think that a cigarette lighters came standard on Futuras and it would make sense to provide an ash tray light to go with a lighter.
My present 1963 Futura hardtop has a lighted ash tray.
I do not recall having a lighted ash tray in my 1963 Futura sport sedan (But that was thirty years ago and maybe it had one but had stopped working).
Thanks, Dennis.
