Below is from an email I received from a fellow located in southern Oregon. On the surface it seems to be a decent buy...I don't know the seller or have any financial involvement. The asking price is $2300 and he seems to be motovated:
1963 Ford Falcon Ranchero Deluxe
Engine -
302 V8, bored +.30 over. Holly 650cfm carburetor, phenolic spacer,
Edelbrock Torker II single plane aluminum intake manifold.
Gold Billet roller rocker arms, roller lifters, comp camshaft for a 351
(firing order) - lift: .533, duration 284, lobe sep. 110., stock heads cast
iron ported, stock crank cast iron 10/10, KB pistons, Milodon 7qt. oil pan,
windage tray.
Flexolite 16in. electric fan, Northern aluminum radiator, new upper and
lower radiator hoses and recovery tank, Pete Jackson quiet gear drive, cast
iron high flow water pump, high flow oil pump, new fuel lines, Holly
electric fuel pump w/ regulator.
This motor was pulled out of a 67' or 68' mustang. It was rebuilt, decked,
honed and reassembled by Bill's Custom Engines. I installed the motor, set
the intake manifold and carburetor, and installed the cooling system. The
original motor was a 160ci straight 6 cylinder. I pulled it to install the
new V8. New motor mounts designed for a 66' mustang (for increased strength
and stability) were installed to accommodate a larger motor.
Transmission -
AOD (4 speed automatic transmission), 7 clutch pack, new seal kit, new flex
plate, new transmission mount, B&M Quicksilver Shifter, industrial grade
transmission cooler.
The transmission itself is out of, i believe a 76' LTD, it has just been
rebuilt and has about 100 miles on it. I installed this personally. There
is a overheating issue. On the freeway the motor tends to get a bit hot;
however i am confident that it's a matter of simply relocating the
transmission cooler out from in front if the radiator. Before the
transmission cooler was installed, the motor ran very cool and rarely got
above 190 degrees. Once the transmission cooler is out of the way, there
will be plenty of air to pass through the radiator.
Exhaust -
"HiPo" cast iron exhaust manifolds, custom fit pipes by North Valley
Muffler, 3" 40 Series Flowmaster Mufflers, chome exhaust tips, exhaust runs
out behind the doors in front of the rear tires (best sound I've heard come
from a small block)
Electronics -
Stock distributor with Pertronix unit, Accel Super Stock 50,000 volt coil,
new battery, wiring, custom cables, Torqmaster high torque mini starter with
thermal shroud, chrome alternator.
Suspension -
All new V8 suspension, new coil springs, stabilizer bar, tie rods, lower A
arms, ball joints, spindles, backing plates, 4 wheel drum brakes, steel
brake lines, and spring kits.
I had to convert the stock 6 cylinder suspension system to the larger V8
suspension.
Rear End/Drive Train -
Rebuilt 8", 4.11 gear ratio, new seals and bearings, custom drive line.
The original V6 rear end was discarded and replace with the stronger V8
rear end, which was rebuilt by Bill's Custom Engines.
Wheels -
Federal Formoza FD1 215/60R15 94H, 15 in. Full Moon Rims chrome.
Interior -
Stock interior, dash pad, bench seats, new Sunpro three cluster gauges
(temp, volts, oil pressure), new Sunpro 2-1/2" tachometer, keyless entry,
new kick panels with 6" speakers.
The interior needs some work. The upholstery needs replaced on the seats.
It's split down the driver's seat and against the backrest. The headliner
is intact with the exception on one little tear above the drivers seat. The
speedometer gear wasn't changed to accommodate the new transmission so the
speedometer doesn't work. The motor has approximately 13,000 miles on it.
The floorboards were beginning to rust out pretty bad so I did just a quick
patch job to take care of it temporarily. It should be replaced (cut out
and properly welded) soon. Rust spots were cut out and replaced with some
sheet metal, then sprayed with rubberized undercoat to prevent future
rusting. Most of the rust is behind the seat where the cab meets the bed.
All in all the rust isn't all that bad, The floorboards are intact and
solid, but I would replace them eventually, There is no rust on any of the
quarter panels or fenders. All knobs and window cranks work perfectly and
are in excellent condition. The dash is very clean. The heater vents have
been replaced with an all new plenum box and lines which works exceptionally
well.
Exterior -
The exterior is where most of the work needs to be done. The paint job is
in moderate to poor condition. This vehicle needs to be taken down to the
bare metal and repainted with proper body work. The paint was done very
well, however the body work was done very poorly. As a result the paint is
peeling and cracking in several placed all over the vehicle. There is a
small ding in the front fender passenger side by the headlight. It should
be very easy to just pull back out. The fuel neck needs to be replaced as
well. Over the years, the gas has slowly eaten away the paint under the gas
cap. While working on the suspension a couple of cracks were found on the
frame. They were properly fish plated and welded. All the glass is in
perfect condition, with the exception of a recent 6 in radius crack in the
windshield. As a result, the windshield will have to be replaced at some
point. The windshield wipers will need to be replaced as well. The return
springs were so old that they broke. They still work but just not as well
as they should. There also seems to be some sort of short in the wiper
motor. They turn on just fine but don't turn off unless the vehicle is
turned off. Some of the weather stripping can be replaced but for the most
part it is also in good condition.
Notes -
I have owned this vehicle for a couple of years now. I bought it in
Vancouver, WA. From there I have done most of the work stated above. After
all calculations, not including the price of the vehicle, a little over
$9,000 I have invested in this ranchero. I have all the receipts to prove
this amount. I also have a complete history including any and all previous
work done on the vehicle for the past 6 years (approximately) and the last 2
owners. With the ranchero comes a rare Protect-O-Top camper shell which
needs to be refinished. Additionally, I have the formula for the paint
color, an extra dash panel, and a color matched set of fender skirts (also a
rare find). I have stated everything I've done and know about this ranchero
to the best of my ability, both good and bad. I'm sure I've left some
little things out here and there simply because it's difficult to remember
