I bought this 1949 F1 Ford Saturday in Eugene for a price so little I almost felt like I was stealing it. It has a V8 Flathead that will need to be rebuilt and I have no experience with those so my son will have to help a lot.
There is very little rust, and it is in great condition for 65 years old.
I have been looking for this truck for a year and couldn't find anything that was affordable and not a trash bucket.
The plans are to totally restore it and then sell it. Then............buy another and start all over..

I like the running board. When was the last year for running boards on a Ford pickup?

Nice truck Larry! I had a 50 F2 for a while and then traded it to my brother-in-law for the '56 F100 Panel I drove for the next 25 years. Had both the panel and my wagon concurrently for about 10 years. Anyway, know the flat-head pretty well - and that truck. Worst rust location is the seam between the upper and lower front fenders. No doubt yours is rusty there.

As for the question: when the last year for the running board? That was 1956. In 1957 they moved the running board inside the cab. Drove a '57 in high school. It was our family farm truck.

Funny timing. Between you and Nathan and his early 60's 4x4 I've been antsy to get moving on my" pickup situation." I have a '67 F100 that is mechanically sound, but the body is rotten (the '67-72 trucks are known for rusting at every seam). Have been looking for a "donor" truck to transfer all the good '67 parts into and do it on a shoe-string... money being tight as it is. I really like the 61-66 body style, but they're up there in price or rust-buckets too. If I could find a 65 or 66 for less than $2K that would be great. Or a nice F1. Just kidding. Maybe, maybe not.

This truck is amazing me. The rust issues are so minor that I can't wait to get started. Roger you are correct there is a little rust at the bed to wall on the right side. It still has the original metal bed that is in really good condition.
I hope some of you have flathead engine experience. I sure don't. If you have books, anything about the engines let me know.
The steering wheel is in great shape. The dash is good, the seat good, floor pans great, front grill almost perfect, frame is great, etc.
Anyway, I am pumped and will keep you up to speed when I start. Larry

There's a nice 64 north of me. Mint green and white. Priced at $2800 with a 74 Alaskan pop camper

I agree too, but the engine from the Falcon would go in the truck and a Coyote motor for the Falcon (no C#$@y). Maybe channel the truck, too.

Bill, I definitely would like that phone number and you guys are sick wanting me to cut up this truck. LOL. It will be stock looking outside and it will have a flathead, those items are for sure. No chopping, channeling, and especially no Cheby in this sucker.
