The car drove fine last weekend. It was a little difficult to start this morning as I backed it out of the garage. I opened the hood and gasoline was puddled all over the intake manifold. There is a lot gas flowing down from the top of the carburetor. It removed a lot of paint from my intake manifold.
Darn it! I bought this Autolite 2100 two-barrel as a re-built carburetor about eight months ago.
I opened the top of the carburetor and the float is floating and the hinge does not seem to be binding. As I push the float down it lifts the valve needle.
Update: I put the lid back on the carburetor and started the car. It is running fine now with no overflow but I am left with an uncertainty as to whether this will happen again. What should I do to provide assurance that this will not repeat?
