My trunk lid ornament was missing the spring that keeps it tightly closed. I found a guy on e-bay (nwclassicfalcon) that is selling them and bought one for $12.25. I have not seen this part for sale anywhere else and was happy to find it. I put it on this morning and it was not difficult to attach. You remove the ornament, put the spring in place, lever up on the loose spring end with a tiny screw driver tip, latch the spring end in place, and stick the ornament back in position on the trunk lid while holding the lid in place, and then re-fasten the ornament. It works! My little lid is spring-loaded again! I lubricated the hinge points with WD-40 and it works smoothly.
One question.
Take a look at the FORD lettering on the lid. It looks like there is some remnant paint behind the letters. Did that originally have white paint behind the letters to highlight them?
