Does anyone have experience or knowledge concerning replacing a 170 in a 63 RAnchero/Falcon with a 250 or 300ci? Are they the same length and width for the mounts as the 170? I want a bigger engine than the 170 and would like the 250 or 300? If it won't fit I will just go with the 200 I have available.
Thanks, hugh.

From what I understand, the 250/300 are taller and can cause some clearance issues with the hood.
You might try a search on The Ford Six Forum. They probably have some good discussions on ways to convert. Try searching "250 swap".

The 250 can fit but its tight in a 63 or earlier falcon..
But is a direct bolt in. You'll have hood clearance issues with anything but dropped air cleaners.. think stock maverick...
You can use maverick frame mounts and motor mounts to lower the engine but then you have oil pan clearance issues with the center link... which can be flipped..
The 300 won't fit... too long and tall
