Anyone know the standard size for the oil sending unit on a 289? Right now it is the factory idiot light but I am getting a vintage Stewart Warner set of electric gauges and need to know the size of the oil sending unit that needs to come with it. I tried to get to it, but with the AC in the way and my shoulder recovering from surgery I was stymied by that attempt.:bicker:
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If you are talking the thread size on the sending unit - it is 1/4" pipe thread.

Isn't the oil sending unit called an oil pump? That's what sends the oil through my engine.:p
Sorry - I couldn't resist. Now back to your regular program....
The gauge sending unit will be much larger than the standard idiot light version. You'll need a spacer to get out past the timing chain cover/fuel pump boss. Ford made one that had the end angled for good clearance. You can find these at any store or website that has parts for old Mustangs.
